The masses have been awaiting the arrival of the new Daft Punk album, and with rumors of the group being a secret guest at Coachella 2013, anticipation for the album has peaked this month. The new album, Random Access Memories, is Daft Punk’s newest and fourth studio album. Their last full album was released in 2005, called Human After All, and in 2010 they produced the soundtrack for the Tron: Legacy film. On April 12, a video preview for the song “Get Lucky” was played at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
In January 2013, Daft Punk left EMI Records for Sony Music Entertainment’s subsidiary label Columbia to release its next album, the album in discussion, Random Access Memories. It’s a little odd switching labels before your biggest album release to date, but “the BIG man” works in mysterious ways sometimes. The official release date isn’t until May 21st, so this extended look is super special. The new album is made up of 13 all new tracks, featuring names such as: Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, Girgio Moroder, Todd Edwards, & Panda Bear.
This track is called Get Lucky, and it gives you a taste of the funkadelic vibe Daft Punk is “going for” on this album. If this track is ANY indication for the quality of the rest of the album, consider me sold. This track Get Lucky features vocals by Pharrell Williams and guitar byNile Rodgers. After hearing Get Lucky, and all the buzz around Daft Punk’s new album, Random Access Memories, I’m going to go out on a limb and say I hope it’s their best album yet. SO will Daft Punk make an official appearance at Coachella this year? There is still one weekend to go, anything is possible I suppose. Get a load of Get Lucky, and Get Your Earz WEt!
