There seems to be something magical about Venice Beach. If you’ve ever visited, you know the hazy dream-like world I speak of. I imagine the place looks the same as it did 30 years ago and will still look the same 30 years from now. It’s an easy place to romanticize, which is why I was immediately captivated by the new 8mm music video for “Drop The Anchor” from up and coming artist Dust & Chrome.
The video is simply a day in the life of Willie Nedrow (aka Dust & Chrome) and Lucy, his dog that he rescued in South Central. In his own words “I brought her home I discovered she needed an outlet for her energy. When I hopped on my board, she instinctually took off running full speed ahead. Since then it has been a match made in heaven.”
Dust & Chrome does a beautiful job of mixing classic American songwriting with and electronic dancy pulse a la Chet Faker or Mas Ysa. We’re very excited to see what his musical future holds.
The whole experience perfectly encapsulates the Venice Beach dream and its timeless, mellow, blissful qualities.
