If it seems like I’m on G.O.O.D. Music’s nuts right now, there’s an explanation. It’s because 1. I am and 2. they are MANHANDLING hip-hop right now. Not only have Kanye, 2 Chainz, Pusha T, and Big Sean been getting your ears sopping wet the whole summer, but today Hit-Boy and Kid Cudi have released a very anticipated track titled Old School Caddy. Hit-Boy is of course the producer of the infamous “HOLY SHIT THEY’RE PLAYING IT” song Ni**as In Paris and signed to the G.O.O.D. Music label in May of 2011. Since his signing he’s been producing gold for artists all over the game like Ye and Jay, A$AP Rocky, Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, and even that Bieber kid. However, this summer he’s made his transition from stepping back from behind the booth to stepping behind the mic-and I like what I hear. Hit-Boy released his debut track as an MC titled Jay-Z Interview in June, snagged a feature on CyHi’s song Entourage early this month, and has now released Old School Caddy to further his rapping credentials. This shit is smooth, both rhythmically and lyrically. You’ll thoroughly enjoy Hit-Boy’s flow as well as Cudi’s rapping. I’m very excited to see where Hit-Boy goes with his new MC direction, expect a free album to be released from him sooner rather than later. I also hope this means we’ll hear Cudi rapping on the label’s “Cruel Summer” album. Enjoy your eargazm, you mothafucks. Keep it down for the neighbors.
