It’s tough to guess exactly what Kevin Barnes or, as most of the world knows him, Of Montreal will do next. Yesterday, the psychadelic pop rocker has released a new track titled “She Ain’t Speaking Now”. The track is at times beautiful and peaceful and at other times, a chaotic frenzy of distorted guitar. The track seems like it is the long lost brother to The Beatles “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band“.
The song was inspired by a time when both Barnes’ wife and daughter were very sick. “I wrote the song when both my wife and daughter were bedridden with a terrible illness,” Barnes told Rolling Stone, who premiered the track. “It was during the middle of our recording sessions for Sylvianbriar, so I was pretty paranoid about catching what they had. I would sort of hold my breath whenever I was near them. I wrote the song while fearing the worst. Fortunately, they both recovered.”
The song is off the upcoming album Lousy With Sylvianbriar which is out on Oct. 8. Enjoy!
