Listen: Summer Camp – Last Christmas

There are two things you cannot avoid during Christmas: the first one is George, the other is Michael; that apparently make up one of the few humans on this planet that chose a first name for a surname. To highlight the seriousness of the situation, I will give you a simple example: suppose you woke up from a coma after 7 years in a really bad mood desperately wanting to know what time of the year it is. Well, “Last Christmas” is the only proof you need and this is because people get so fed up by it during the festive season that there is no way a sane mind would ask to hear it again for the forthcoming 11 months and ten days (research has shown that people start playing it after December 10). Lucky enough there is no “Last Easter”…

In a move full of empathy, Summer Camp decided to soothe our festive pain with a cool stripped down version of the original. Elizabeth’s vocals are so good that you may actually end up liking Wham! (ok, not really). You can find this and a couple more other Christmas belters on Moshi Moshi’s latest offering “A Christmas Gift For You From Moshi Moshi Records” here.

Merry Christmas? Nah, it’s too early…enjoy!
