There is only one word to describe Macklemore, Real. The man spits from his soul. He owns every word that comes out of his mouth and is truly a non-conformist. Not like a South Park Non-Conformist, who conforms by not conforming. Chew on that for a second.. aand were back. This time he brings in the vocal support of Ben Bridwell of Band Of Horses. This turns out to be the perfect complement. Macklemore has a way of talking about shitty life events and makes them uplifting and inspirational. Then Ben comes in and livens up the mood. One part that especially stuck with me, was when he speaks about a fan coming up to him expressing that his success with sobriety inspired her to clean up her own life. He then explains, he was in the midst of a relapse and didn’t have the heart to tell her the truth. That’s something most would be afraid to talk about, but Macklemore uses this as a chance to help others. Let me put it this way, If AA meetings were anything like this track, I would be a regular. Give Starting Over a listen and enjoy The Eargazm!
