Girls Love Beyonce

By now we know Drizzy Drake is one of the more skilled renaissance artists in the game, able to effortlessly capitalize in both rap and R&B. Of course the softer side of the Toronto lyricist came first through his highly acclaimed, unbelievable, mind-blowing mixtape So Far Gone. One of the more repeating themes we’ve heard in drakes baby-making tunes are his respects and tributes to great female entertainers. The love affair with the late Aaliyah has been the most obvious, but Drake has also been known to provide great tracks with samples of Destiny’s Child and the group’s queen bee Beyonce. The OVO artist has teamed up James Fauntleroy to give us another soothing song with his latest Girls Love Beyonce.

The instrumental is very typical Drake, which is not a problem at all, containing a deep bass and lighter pitched instruments in the foreground. The bars are filled with descriptions of Drizzy’s girl trouble as he lays verse after verse in his signature rap-sing style. “I know girls love Beyonce/Girls love to fuck with your conscience/Girls hate when niggas go missing and shawty you ain’t no different”. The theme eventually turns to what the OVO boss want’s from a woman, with some luscious coverage of the classic Destiny’s Child hook.

Let’s talk about Mr. Fauntleroy, shall we? Because holy TITTIES are those vocal chords heavenly on that hook. You might recognize his voice from the intro of Clique, and if you don’t go back and compare it with this chorus and shart yourself. The Roc Nation team member has worked with A-list acts from Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Chris Brown, and the G.O.O.D. Music posse. He’s currently the president of entertainment group 1500 or Nothin and one of three members of R&B/production group The Y’s, whose other members include Rob Knox and this guy Justin Timberlake. Mr. Fauntleroy also belongs to a collaborative group called Cocaine 80s founded by No I.D. which includes five other members with the likes of Kevin Rudolph and Common. James has certainly been doing work for a few years, but we’re guaranteed to see him in a bigger spotlight next to top artists rockin the mic as he did with Girls Love Beyonce.

Destiny’s Child + Drake + James Fanutleroy = mojo. It’s science, sensual love making magic to the tee. It has been confirmed that Girls Love Beyonce will be on Drizzy’s next album Nothing Was The Same (to be released this year), keep checkin in and we’ll have more singles from tracklist.
