There is always a certain song that seemingly pairs perfectly with the day — a song that snuggly fits in line with your expectations and mood; one that brings out the enjoyment in life before the inevitable loathing and regret during your Saturday morning hangover (via a Friday night 4-person-per-team case race). On this laid back, easy-going, warm spring Friday afternoon, the song is What’s What I Do by Last Good Tooth.
What’s What I Do is an indie acoustic folk tune that really speaks to the “lost youth” 18-24 year old demographic in me. Not knowing what exactly to do, when to do it, or why you’re doing it — literally asking yourself “What’s What I Do?” (but maybe in words that make a little more sense grammatically…). This song is perfect to fill an afternoon of sitting back in a chair, gazing out the window, watching the cool spring breeze blow through the trees, and daydreaming the hours by. In fact, welcome to my afternoon.
Last Good Tooth is an American quartet from the North East consisting of Penn Sultan (guitar and vocals), Arthur Kapp (drums), Kevin Sullivan (bass), and Alex Spoto (fiddle). For a taste the of the four’s personality, check out the ‘About’ section on their Facebook page — specifically their (I’m assuming) self-written biography. Apparently, Last Good Tooth is a long lost government secret project. Funny stuff guys. The band is currently on tour mostly on the east coast throughout the month of April. Last Good Tooth is actually performing with the band Brown Bird, recipients of my first ever article for The Eargazm. Ah, nostalgia.
