Stream: The Family Rain – Waterfall

We’re keeping it all in the family today with Britain’s The Family Rain. The brand new song that caught my eye is titled Waterfall, a B-side track to their A-side single Carnival (which can be downloaded for FREE from their website). The Family Rain consists of twins Tim and Will Walter with their older brother Olly, who have all been making music together since they were young.

Generally I’m not a huge fan of B-sides, but this song is different. I actually prefer this to the A-side, as a matter of fact. Waterfall has a lo-fi garage sound that you can really vibe to. Part of the charm of this song is that it was actually recorded in the trio’s basement in Bath. Waterfall walks the line of being psychedelic and maintains a relaxed, groovy tone throughout.

The Family Rain first came on to the scene with their debut single Trust Me… I’m a Genius — inspired by the idea of shooting a “Hip Hop music video in the English countryside” and bringing excitement back to “guitar music.”

The Family Rain just announced their 2013 tour dates which, unfortunately for us Yankees, all occur across the pond. Their shows will tour the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and other parts of Europe.

As new additions to Mercury Records, you can expect big things from the British indie rock trio from Bath. They recorded at Hansa Studios in Berlin this February with Jim Abbiss, known for working with the Arctic Monkeys. I haven’t heard any news of their first album to be released yet, but one would think that it’s just around the corner…

So in between checking your already-busted bracket and cheering on your favorite team in the Madness of March, take a second to check out Waterfall and The Family Rain. You wont be disappointed. Happy first day of spring, and Get Your Earz Wet!
