I’m guessing that most of you reading this haven’t thought about, much less been entertained by classic fairy tales in a loooooong time. Well, AlunaGeorge is here to challenge that streak with their latest video for Attracting Flies. Rehashing the stories of our childhood, like Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Goldilocks, may seem like a risky idea but the dark, kind of twisted take fits really well with the song.
AlunaGeorge is an electronic/alt-R&B project of Aluna Francis and George Reid. The duo hails from London and has been turning heads and gaining fans all over the world with each track and video that they release, building some serious momentum toward their debut release Body Music (out July 1st courtesy of Island Records). The band sites an eclectic group of influences ranging from R&B superstars like Destiny’s Child and Mariah Carey to experimental electronic pioneers like Flying Lotus and Hudson Mohawke as well as song writing legends like Van Morrison and James Taylor. Their blending of these influences is the secret to their success. They sound futuristic yet somehow very familiar at the same time. Expect some big things from these super-smooth Brits.
