Danny Brown’s album Old was released last year and took hip-hop by storm. While others were debating whether My Name Is My Name, Yeezus, or Born Sinner would claim best rap record of the year, Danny released Old amidst all the hype and let his music speak for itself. The tracklist has been praised for showing off Danny’s diverse spectrum, ranging from out-of-control energetic bangers to carefully crafted lyrical tracks like “25 Bucks” featuring Purity Ring.
Danny has finally provided the visuals for “25 Bucks”, a song proving to be one of Old’s more popular ones about hustling and troubles in a ghetto household. The video employs superb cinematography combined with editing tricks to isolate Danny in the hood home he roams. The camera tracks in front of Danny as he passes by individuals frozen in time, casually grabbing plates out of the air being thrown by parents and snatching cigarettes from individuals throughout the household. Purity’s Megan James joins Danny in tracking with the camera, quite frankly almost zombie like opposed to the Detroit rapper’s animated rapping. Great video with fun concepts, enjoy this dosage of Danny.
