If there is one thing I know about Derek Vincent Smith, better known as electronic producer Pretty Lights, is that the man doesn’t mess around with putting together a video that captures the essence of his live performance. After the incredible video of his 2011 Bonnaroo performance of I Know The Truth, I didn’t think concert footage could get any better, but alas, his latest video for the unveiling of his new track The Day Is Gone performed on New Years Eve is certainly giving it a run for its money. Pretty Lights played back to back shows this last December 30th and 31st at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City where he debuted his previously unheard banger The Day Is Gone, and from the visuals it is clear to see, it was quite the spectacle to beheld. The video, which was shot and edited by RadioEditAV, does an awesome job of covering the two day event from all angles. One viewing of this video and you will feel like you were right there, sweating your nuts off and partaking in glorious champagne showers along with the rest of New York’s rowdiest ravers. This video is guaranteed to fully engage both your ears and your eyes as your mind struggles to comprehend just how awesome these shows would have been, but I am warning you, it may leave you with some remorseful thoughts such as, “God damn it why was I not there?” Well lucky for us Pretty Lights is a busy busy man this summer, stopping at many of the big festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forest, giving you plenty of opportunities to get out there and rock your face off.
